The Beeb are airing an interactive episode of Casualty at Holby City this week - where you the viewer can decide which of two minor characters gets an organ transplant.

How does the interactivity of the episode enhance the storyline? All they’re going to do is push a button at BBC Broadcast Centre that plays the pre-recorded winning choice.

Yes, it’s a nice idea. But the interactivity would be far better suited to something else. Or… they could cleverly film alternate scenes for use throughout the whole episode and have audiences choose the next scene every ten minutes. You know, similar to one of those adventure gamebooks: “To look in the chest go to page 18″ sort of thing. That’d be great.
