The issue of the salad cream

I’m not going to name names, but MSN Messenger has become tedious. Nay, annoying. I used to love conversing with my old school mates, newly found mates and my countless ex-lovers. (Even if the lovers only ever existed in my imagination. And at the end of my right arm.) But I’m constantly having to put up with goits on there these days.

I know, I know - if I don’t want to talk to people, block them. Or don’t go on MSN altogether. But I don’t believe in blocking, as it’s not something I’d do to someone in person, and I shouldn’t have to not go on either.

As it is, I’ve only been using MSN again for about a month - since the new version (7.5) was released, which actually works on my computer. But I’m bombarded with idiots only messaging to ask idiotic questions - questions of benefit to them. No “How are you today, Blake?” or any attempt at proper conversation. Then there are those that make out that I’m obliged to talk to them just because we’re both online at the same time - regardless of my online status. Even then, when I do indulge them, it’s me that ends up putting in all of the effort to form a conversation then keep it going. They’re like that poor cat i’ the adage.

Of course, there are still a handful of people that are a pleasure to talk with. And they know who they are. But everyone else, really - don’t bother talking to me if you’re going to waste my time. I know that sounds… what’s the word… “pompous”. But I don’t mind giving a lot of time, effort and attention to people if they are willing to give me some of theirs back. It’s not too much to ask.
