Candle in the eye

Tuesday, January 31st, 2006 at 7:12 pm

You know when people distribute items by throwing them towards you, and how you always think “that’s going to hit someone” - probably in the face - but it never does? Well, I ended up with a DVD case in the EYE today - thrown forcefully by none other than my course leader.

I wouldn’t mind, but the DVD didn’t even work.

It’s about *that* shape

Well I don’t know about you, but I thought Tikka to Ride: ReMastered was rather very good. Not that I didn’t love the original - because I did. The effects were just much, much better this time round. Still not as good as model effects, mind. But better than the original CGI all the same.

Satire

Well, it certainly says a lot about the celebrities in Celebrity Big Brother when they’re all beaten by interloping non-celebrity, Chantelle. I’m really pleased she won it.

Hopefully Channel 4 will take note and put some proper celebrities in next time. Although in fairness to Barrymore - even though I’m not a fan - he is what I regard a celebrity.

Rape On Air

I think one of my tutors thinks I was having a go at him earlier. He was being all cocky, giving it all that. So I gave back. And he went quiet. Ha ha.

In other news: Steve P. - my good, wall-punching friend from RWS (and Racodac for a short while) - can be seen on Channel 4’s The Friday Night Project tomorrow night at 11:05 PM… jumping on one of the presenters of all things.

Some people never change, eh?

Long thin block

Wednesday, January 25th, 2006 at 1:31 pm

Probably another "ever" moment today in that I think I had the longest sleep of my life: 10:00 PM last night until 11:50 AM this morning. And I was still dead tired when I finally managed to get out of bed. Quite a rarity for me, that. I can even remember dreaming about Tetris. Which is incredibly sad to say the least.

I could tell from your walk

Today saw the longest critique at Racodac that I’ve ever had the misfortune to sit through. It was painful. Plus, I had the worst headache ever throughout. I know people generally say “ever” about things, but I truthfully mean it; It was the worst headache of my life - and I’ve had some nasty headaches over the years.

I’m sure the tutors were wearing tighter undies today too, as they were unbelievably harsh with their feedback in the crit. My group (which consisted of two people) was the very last to present, surprisingly receiving positive comments from the tutors. But by that point, I didn’t care and just wanted to go to bed.

Having to wait an hour in the freezing cold for a bus to come along that was actually in service didn’t make me feel any better. Although seeing an Anus Soothe Pile Cream - “one size fits all” glove on the walk to the bus stop did raise a big smile.

Now at home, having sat in complete darkness for two hours, I feel a lot better. But I’m going to do something highly unexpected and have an early night, as I’m clearly still a wee bit ill. (Bed before midnight, I must be mad!)

Boxed Bobbies

I don’t know exactly what point I’m trying to make in saying so. But every time I see the Juliet Bravo: The Complete Series One DVD boxset from a distance (or on the Internet) I do a double take thinking it’s The Bill.

I know it’s the colours and chequered strip that do it, but among other titles it does cause unnecessary excitement.

What on Io?

To me it looks uncannily like someone has filmed regular pigs using the night-mode function on their domestic video camera. But apparently, scientists in Taiwan have bred three pigs that glow in the dark.

Money well spent, there.

Seeing Saw

Saturday, January 21st, 2006 at 10:37 pm

Despite wanting to see Saw for quite a while, I’ve only just seen Saw for the first time. It was everyone else singing its praises that put me off. (Think “Collateral”, which was good - but nowhere near as good as everyone made out.)

Anyhow, it was great. I loved absolutely every minute of it. And now I rather want to see Saw II too.

Bizarre

Whether you choose to believe me or not, there is a seven-tonne whale swimming in the River Thames. Right at this very moment in time. Really. No, really-really. Look.

Extraordinary.
