War on Earth

Well that certainly was a gripping series finale, wouldn’t you agree?

That’s an understatement, clearly. But I didn’t write down my immediate thoughts after the episode aired as I had Atul K. round to watch it together in our pants.

I was livid when I accidentally stumbled across the biggest spoiler ever on the official Doccie Who site a week ago. It really was a biggie, giving away exactly what happens to Rose. But it turned out to be a TRICK - a fake line of dialogue planted to fool the world. Boy was I pleased when I realised I hadn’t ruined the ending for myself. And a fine ending it was too.

Wizard! Although the 3D specs do suit me much better.

Having suffered terribly with hayfever this year it’s suddenly just… cleared up. My eyes have been okay - no stinging at all - and I’ve been sneezing far, far less. Joy! I’m really hoping it’s left me as quickly as it joined me some years ago.

Fun, fun, fun in the sun, sun, sun.

This was a happy street

After yesterday’s impressive episode of Doctor Who, I thought I’d revisit the previous two weeks’ eps to see what went wrong.

Love & Monsters still remains a weak episode in my opinion - probably the weakest of the series. And although I stand by what I said before, I do quite like it now. I think it required an extra viewing just to see past the different style of storytelling.

And I don’t mind the absence of the Doctor so much this time round, as I quite like the fact the episode is built around him as a legend. That said, the blue/red bucket scene with him and Rose was a bit Benny Hill.

Put it this way: It is a good episode of something, but not a good episode of Doctor Who. It was an average episode of Doctor Who. Which isn’t really a criticism - it just shows the brilliance of all the other episodes.

Last week’s episode I haven’t yet commented on because I watched it whilst working and thought it deserved a proper viewing before judgement. And having just watched it - yes it was really good. Much like Love & Monsters, though, it wasn’t one of the better episodes. But this is more a case of the others standing out more than this one being poor; this was a quietly-good ep.

Okay, that’s it. Although I should rewatch Tooth and Claw at some point soon.

Next week’s ep is going to be phenomenal.

Strike a light, how good was Doctor Who?! Last week’s was okay - and only “okay” - and the week before’s was crap. But this week’s was “OMFG!”.

I actually let out a gasp at the end revelation like the nance I am.

Next week’s is going to be earth-shattering.
