Un-amiss

Sunday, November 7th, 2004 at 6:38 pm

I didn’t get up until 12:00 PM today. So to make the most of my time, I did various computery bits whilst watching Columbo.

The lie-in was due to not going to bed until 3:30 AM this morning, as I ventured forth onto MSN Messenger in the early hours then started watching a film.

MSN was good. It’s something that I haven’t done for a couple of months now because of Racodac. Though with so many of my contacts now at university, it didn’t half seem empty.

There I had a wee chat with Jo E, whom I missed out on seeing on Wednesday because of the allegory trip. Chris T, bless him, had not long got in from work but still managed to stay up for quite a while chatting to me. And during our conversation, Liz K. signed in, so I spoke with her for a fair while too.

After the MSNing, I started watching Interview with the Vampire in bed. I don’t know what it is about that film - I have NEVER managed to stay awake all the way through it. Not because it’s boring or anything. I just have a tendency to fall asleep or get tired during it. I even fell asleep watching it at Michael W’s gaff one night. (As did he if memory serves.)

The computery bits that I’ve been doing include more behind the scenes work on my site, Photoshopping and general web browsing. I’ve also changed my profile piccy on this here blog.

What’dya think?

And now for something completely different

Chicken soup

Wednesday, September 15th, 2004 at 7:53 pm

I’m desperately trying to contain my excitement - I’ve just spent most of today digging and pummelling yet again. But this time, as well as positioning the slabs, I actually sealed them in with concrete too. Will this fun never end?

Anyhow, I’m going to watch The Bill in a bit, then I’m going to do some essential routine maintenance. It’s absolutely vital for the well-being of this crew, this mission, and this blog, see.

The Axeman is back

Welcome to ::BigBlakeBlog:: - another place of wonder, excitement and… wonder.

No pics. No auts. Please respect my privacy. I am just an ordinary member of the public.

Those of you who had the misfortune of reading my old ramblings know what to expect from me now. But for the newbies among you, “sadness” sums it up rather well. And we’re not talking “unhappy” sadness, we’re talking “pathetic” sadness.

As for why I am reintroducing myself - I have recently merged the blog that resided on my old site with my half-arsed attempt at a completely independent one here.

Incidentally, all of the posts from my old blog have been duplicated here on ::BigBlakeBlog:: to make everything feel a bit… samey.

I’m aiming to compose at least one post a day, so I’ve rigged it to publish posts via email (and even SMS if I must) for the rare occasions where I won’t be at my computer to update properly.

May this be the start of a beautiful friendship.

The launch of ::BigBlake:: version 3 saw my old blog merging with this one, creating a formless void between posts.

So presented here are 3 extended episodes with over 25 minutes of previously unseen material. Enjoy.

Episode I - June 2004:

  • I purchased a brand new and genuine copy of Microsoft Windows XP Pro (with SP1 and COA) for just under £4.00.
  • Film and television music legend, Howard Goodall, granted me exclusive rights to a piece of his music for use in my short film, Sleep.
  • Sleep was put on the ‘net.
  • Sleep was shown at the Suburban Shorts Film Festival.

Episode II - July 2004:

  • I participated in a pub crawl around Bromley in celebration of Rob B’s 18th birthday. However, not having any acceptable identification, I only managed to get into three public houses. I did get into a fourth, but was kicked out shortly after sitting down (along with one of Matt L’s work chums, Emma - who *was* underage), again for not having any acceptable identification.I wouldn’t mind, but not only do I not drink alcohol, I’m the oldest of the group.
  • MSN started increasing the size of their Hotmail inboxes, and incorrectly gave me a 2GB account instead of a 250MB one. Naturally, I emailed them straight away to inform them of their cock-up, but five times they didn’t want to know. So I’ve now got a free 2GB Hotmail account.

Episode III - August 2004:

  • In the early hours of one morning, I re-lived the antics of my old chatroom days with Rob B, who yet again reduced me to hysterics. What a guy!
  • For a couple of weeks I got up considerably early to work on a building site. Never have I seen so much sand, cement and water in my life. Apart from at the seaside, of course. Though I don’t remember seeing much cement at Herne Bay - not that there’s much sand there, either.Oh, and I’ve been keeping count of how many times I’ve hit my head on the same bit of wood. It’s twenty-two at present.
  • A letter for an audition got lost in the post, so I missed out on a gig. Bah.
  • I finally got to see magician Dean Tavalouris’ show.
  • I spent a handful of days with Joey E. One day we were at it for eleven hours :-P
  • Exam results. (Dum, dum, dum.) I didn’t get mine until a week after they were available, but was very pleased when I did get them: A for Film Studies, A for Media Studies and B for Intricate Twaddle. Plus my A, A & A for CCNA 1, 2 & 3.
  • I’ve been asked to design yet another site.
  • And another one.

Well, that’s about it - thanks for watching.

Back from the Dead

::BigBlake:: has relaunched.

I’ve been redesigning my site behind-the-scenes for the last few weeks. It was getting silly updating the old one knowing that it was soon to be put to rest, so on 4th June I ended it and just didn’t announce it officially.

My way in thinking was that if I uploaded the new site at the beginning of July (when I said I was going to resume updating), the changeover would’ve been instantaneous for you lot, creating a sort of Back to the Future type time effect but without a Delorean.

I’m particularly happy with the new site, as I’ve got rid of all of the things that I hated before, and added loads of new bits here and there - which will no doubt annoy me further down the line.

But enough of that, as you can read more about the relaunch on the actual site.

I will not be updating any of my sites for the rest of June because I want to focus on my final public examinations. Normal updates shall resume from July.

Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

In the early hours of this morning, I experienced what can only be described as “a voyage to trip-out city”. Maybe it was brought on by the Special Stuff. But in all honesty, I doubt I’ll ever know.

It doesn’t look too 2D to me.
