A new flavour Pringle

Sodding Catherine Tate is going to be the doctor’s permanent assistant in the next series of Doctor Who. Arse wank.

In fairness, she wasn’t too bad in The Runaway Bride so she may turn out alright… in time. (I wasn’t keen on the idea of Billie Piper as an assistant yet she proved to be excellent.)

Freema Agyeman will also be returning mid-series as Martha Jones - as well as featuring in Torchwood. I can’t see why she was axed at all (if the rumours are anything to go by), especially if they’re bringing her back anyway. I thought she was really good.

Work is going splendidly by the way, I seem to have slotted straight into place. Ooer. And I’m doing proper projects too - none of that Fame Game nonsense.

The start of my day was a bit rubbish, but it dramatically picked up when I saw Lisa this evening. I treated us both to an Indian - the full works (as in curry etc, not a sex slave) - to celebrate our joint successes of late, which was followed by the Doctor Who series finale and then a late screening of TMNT.

Doctor Who was excellent, with a really nice twist at the end that I doubt anyone saw coming. I have particularly enjoyed looking out for all the Star Wars influences in these last three eps too. (Darth Maul, the Death-Star-looking Toclafane balls, Jedi mind tricks with the Sonic Screwdriver, lightsaber-&-blaster-looking ‘rays’, lightsaber-hilt- &-blade-looking Laser Screwdriver, Jedi funeral scene et cetera.) And thankfully the series picked up after a handful of weak episodes.

TMNT on the other hand was really disappointing. The trailer looked superb but we got dead bored watching the full film. A good thing we were in such fine company, eh?

I thought it good

Lisa and I caught an advanced screening of Shrek the Third tonight after the penultimate episode of this series of Doccie Who.

The episode was really good - John Simm’s performance was amazing. The resolution to last week’s cliffhanger was a bit poo, mind.

Shrek the Third was far better than I thought it’d be - having been quite disappointed by Shrek 2.

What with having a wonderful family, some fantastic friends, an absolutely perfect girlfriend - whom I get to spend such blissful time with - AND landing myself that dream job at Paramount Comedy, life is sweet.

Doctor Who was fantastic again tonight. I hoped they were building to something really special - and indeed they were!

I watched the ep with Lisa, only she “doesn’t watch Doctor Who” so idly sat looking at the frame around the television set for the whole forty-five minutes instead… just as she has done for virtually every other episode this series. Yes, whatever you say, dear :-P

Spooky, isn’t it?

This week’s Doctor Who was without a doubt the best of this series - and possibly the finest of all three new series. Having been the man behind the excellent Girl in the Fireplace episode last series (and the whole of Coupling) this Moffat chap is one to be trusted.

It’s also worth mentioning for those who emailed when I complained about Love and Monsters last year that this episode also featured very little doctor and also attempted an unconventional Doctor Who storyline, yet I adore this episode. The difference being this episode did it well.

Darth Maul in next week’s ep!

Last week’s Doctor Who story concluded tonight and both instalments were pretty damn good. The series has definitely warmed up and found its feet now. I am hopeful of very good things to come.

Must dash, footage in need of editing.

Old doctors seen in new Doctor Who!

Well, sort of.

The Eurovision Song Contest last week (complete with our laugh-worthy entry) saw the real-time Doccie Who episode, 42, being postponed until tonight.

Not that we had much choice, but it was worth the wait - the doctor finally pulled his sonic screwdriver out of his arse and presented us with some excellence this series.

Let’s hope things are on the up.

Despite the obvious mad-scientist-turns-into-a-monster storyline, tonight’s episode of Doctor Who was considerably strong. But compared to the last series, things thus far have been very hit-and-miss, highlights being the opening episode and the one with Bruce Willis.

I really hope they’re building to something mind-blowing. Harold Saxon *must* be the Master, nay?
