Pirate film

Posted on Saturday, June 30th, 2007 at 11:30 am

I finally got around to seeing Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End last night. Well, all but the last half-hour or so as the projector broke. Typical.

I’d have seen it sooner to raise my spirits between projects, but I agreed last year to wait and see it with Katherine McK. having seen Dead Man’s Chest with her. Only, she decided to watch it without me a few weeks back being the girl she is. And a ginger one at that. So I instead went with Sam S. and his ladyfriend, Kate last night.

Elliot S, who definitely didn’t want to come and see the film on Thursday when we were originally going to see it - because he’d already seen it, decided he’d come along after all. So the four of us made our merry way down to Greenwich for a night of swashbuckling action.

What I saw of the film was really good, though it started very slowly - it should’ve started just before Jack Sparrow was first seen in Davey Jones’ Locker.

’twas a really fun night. With many thanks to Sam for picking me up & bringing me home again.

Virgin alert

I really hate all these current Virgin Media adverts with Uma Thurman. She’s done some fantastic films but she’s not the right face for the campaign. Not that there’s anything wrong with her face (though she does have freakishly large hands), she just doesn’t suit the service.

Performer aside, the adverts are rubbish anyway.

I thought it good

Lisa and I caught an advanced screening of Shrek the Third tonight after the penultimate episode of this series of Doccie Who.

The episode was really good - John Simm’s performance was amazing. The resolution to last week’s cliffhanger was a bit poo, mind.

Shrek the Third was far better than I thought it’d be - having been quite disappointed by Shrek 2.

What with having a wonderful family, some fantastic friends, an absolutely perfect girlfriend - whom I get to spend such blissful time with - AND landing myself that dream job at Paramount Comedy, life is sweet.

Some nob jockey has shaved off a chunk of my eyebrow.

I need to get out more.

You are not alone

Doctor Who was fantastic again tonight. I hoped they were building to something really special - and indeed they were!

I watched the ep with Lisa, only she “doesn’t watch Doctor Who” so idly sat looking at the frame around the television set for the whole forty-five minutes instead… just as she has done for virtually every other episode this series. Yes, whatever you say, dear :-P

A washed phone definitely never rings

My final hand-in at Racodac today felt very good. No more silly projects for me. (I hope.)

Paramount Comedy is supposed to be getting back to me by the end of the day. I just hope I’m not on the toilet when they ring.

Spooky, isn’t it?

This week’s Doctor Who was without a doubt the best of this series - and possibly the finest of all three new series. Having been the man behind the excellent Girl in the Fireplace episode last series (and the whole of Coupling) this Moffat chap is one to be trusted.

It’s also worth mentioning for those who emailed when I complained about Love and Monsters last year that this episode also featured very little doctor and also attempted an unconventional Doctor Who storyline, yet I adore this episode. The difference being this episode did it well.

Darth Maul in next week’s ep!

Near fame

At this very moment in time I could have been appearing as an extra in the much-loved British police drama, The Bill. But, alas, I had to turn down the offer to allow myself enough time to finish everything for my final hand in this coming Friday.

The world is a bastard.

We don’t do that much salvaging

My interview at Paramount Comedy this morning could not have gone better. Well, getting there could’ve done - the Transport for London website is possibly the most unreliable website I have ever encountered. But enough of that, the interview-proper went excellently.

My favourite answer was probably to the question: “In one sentence, why are you the best man for the job?” - to which I responded: “I am a confident, competent worker, with a good sense of humour and generally… a… nice… chap.”

My video work (including my completed Major 2 and previews of my Major 1 and Negotiated Group projects - which my tutors haven’t even seen yet) went down a treat. And until I stated otherwise the DVD covers I took to demonstrate my print skills were thought to be the genuine articles that I’d simply ‘brought along’. Perfik.

The rest of the day has seen me keying out footage for my Negotiated Group project. Looks pretty damn good if you ask me. And even if you don’t - which you probably won’t.

There, I’ve gone and answered that tree-falling-over-in-the-woods -being-heard-question now. It’s just not right. Not right at all.
